In the first quarter of 2019, an increase of 43% in violent crime emerges. Offences ranging from robberies,sexual offences, assaults and more. Below is a news story discussing the reason behind this new statistic and how it impacts future reports of these crimes.

Robbery
This is a crime of attempting to take or taking anything of value by force. The emotional impact this has on victims is that it can lead to psychological distress, including anger, depression, fear, self-vulnerability.
The Criminal Code in Canada states that robbery is an indictable offence, Hence If the accused uses a prohibited weapon to commit robbery, a mandatory minimum sentence of 5 years is placed.
